NETGEAR® Extends International Market Leadership with #1 Position in Australian Wireless LAN Market

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — October 31, 2005 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today revealed that research from IDC’s most recent WLAN Equipment Tracker* ranked NETGEAR as the number one vendor in the Australian wireless LAN equipment market in total shipment revenue in the April to June Quarter 2005. This achievement reinforces NETGEAR’s increasing worldwide market penetration and brand recognition for both its wired and wireless networking product lines for homes and small businesses.

“This ranking demonstrates our established leadership in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Patrick Lo, NETGEAR’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Customers in Australia, as in the U.S. and Europe, trust NETGEAR products over other vendors for their reliability and affordability, which provides a platform for our further growth worldwide.”

IDC’s latest report revealed that NETGEAR charted sequential revenue growth in the Australian WLAN market in the high twenties range in Q205. NETGEAR’s continued #1 spot in the Australian WLAN market was boosted by their ongoing traction in the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector, as well as in the Education segment.

Ian McLean, NETGEAR’s vice president of Asia Pacific sales, commented, “We continuously strive to deliver innovative products to optimize the performance of wired and wireless network infrastructures in both homes and businesses. It’s especially gratifying to see the Education sector, in which we already enjoy success with our wireline products, awaken to the benefits of wireless networks. This demonstrates that our wireless products meet, even surpass, their stringent security requirements.”

NETGEAR’s RangeMax™ family of wireless networking products with Smart MIMO technology contributed to the company’s strong wireless position in Australia. With its unique design and blue LEDs, NETGEAR’s RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN824) has a first-of-its-kind, unique capability to dynamically sense the environment and select from up to 127 possible antenna configurations, eliminating Wi-Fi dead spots and optimizing the wireless connection to each client for the fastest and most stable connection available. The RangeMax family also includes the RangeMax Wireless Access Point (WPN802), RangeMax Wireless PC Card (WPN511), RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter (WPN311), and RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (WPN111). A full RangeMax solution can deliver up to 10 times the coverage and speed of standard 802.11g-based solutions; in conjunction with other existing standards-based 802.11g, 802.11b/g and Atheros SuperG® products, users can still see performance increases of up to 50 percent. In March of this year, LAPTOP Magazine honored the RangeMax Wireless Router with its MobileFocus Award for excellence in innovation and design, deeming it the top product in the wireless networking category.

In addition, NETGEAR’s ProSafe™ line of business wireless solutions also contributed to the company’s strong market position in the Education sector. This family of network security products includes Wired and Wireless VPN Firewalls, Wireless Access Points, Antennas and Accessories.

*IDC’s Q205 Quarterly WLAN Equipment Tracker tracks shipment out from vendors for wireless access points, wireless bridges, wireless routers, wireless Network Interface Cards (NICs) and Wireless Switches.
